This week's match was against Plymouth University 3s, so we knew we'd be up against young, fit, women in the prime of their lives. Obviously we just hoped they would be weary from the excesses of student life but there were also just so many of them, allowing them to sub on fresh legs seemingly constantly. So we put aside our list of aches, pains and injuries and got out there with a strong performance. Hannah was very strong in the centre and supported some great attacking play that resulted in two goals, the first from Edie and then Ruby. This was fantastic as getting the ball in the goal seems to be a fundamental weakness in our game but today demonstrated we are progressing.
Our very family orientated club had two sets of sisters on the pitch today, working together to bring the magic, plus Sian attacked strongly, Annabel was always in the right place at the right time and everyone gave their all. Our short corners are much improved and although we were possibly denied a penalty, shots were strong and on target. With all this awesomeness it is with great sadness I have to say that ultimately we still lost 4-2. So much good to build on, maybe next week will be our week.
