A fantastic performance from the Men’s 2XI against Taunton Vale 5XI with a very enjoyable 4-2 win! The 2XI dominated the first half and had lots of chances early on with the Taunton keeper making some good saves but an excellent run down the left wing and cross into the D was deflected home by Tom Souster on his return from injury to give Torbay the lead. Torbay had several more shots and short corners but the ball just wouldn’t go in the goal! Finally Darren Till bundled it over the line after a goalmouth scramble. A few minutes later son joined father on the scoresheet as Ben Till deflected home into the corner to give the 2XI a deserved 3-0 lead at half-time. After the break Torbay switched off a little bit and allowed Taunton back into the game by two awkward goals in five minutes much to their frustration. Torbay got back into the game, however, and created a few good chances, finally finding a fourth goal to put them firmly in control of the game again through John Julyan. Torbay saw out the rest of the game with a final scoreline of 4-2, securing a vital three points that takes them 4 points clear of the relegation places. All eyes now turn to the final game of the season on April 11 away against Dart 1XI knowing another win or Ashmoor losing to Taunton Vale 3XI would secure safety.
