A game where we had to defend very well and then take our chances when the came! For the first 15 minutes we were on the back foot, having to defend deep and rely on Peter Yates to make some good saves. Unfortunately we went 1 down to a soft goal, when we failed to pick up a player on the back post who swept the ball into the net. The goal woke us up and we started to play some good hockey, although the final pass was lacking at times. We earned our first short corner, Jamie Stormont collected the ball on the top of the circle, went out to the right and slotted it into the far corner. HT it was 1-1.
We started the second half much better, taking the game to to Exeter and just after the restart James Rochester pounced on a rebound and forced the ball into the far corner. Exeter came back strong, having made a couple of changes, forcing more good saves from Peter, but we continued to defend well and deny them the equaliser. As the game drew to a close, we intercepted a poor pass, got the ball forward to Jamie and once again, from the right, he shot past the keeper into the far corner. Shortly after the goal the final whistle went. FT 3-1.
