Losing the toss meant we would play into the sun in the 1st half, and for the first 25 minutes we struggled to pass out from the back with any accuracy, or clear our defensive third due to the sun being directly in our eyes. Because of this ISCA dominated the ball in this period and despite some stout defending we conceded a goal. As the sun went down we came more into the game, and in the last 10 minutes created 2 or 3 really good chances to equalise but failed to convert them and it was 1-0 to ISCA at half time.
After a positive half time team talk we started the 2nd half more on the front foot, played more expansive hockey, and we again created chances from open play and short corners. With growing confidence and getting a stronger grip in the middle of the park, we kept pushing, which restricted ISCA to very few chances. Following a couple of direct hits at goal from short corners, Jamie Stormont played a one two with Simon Street and flicked the ball past the keeper to score a well deserved equaliser.
Both teams went for the win, but defences were on top in the final minutes and neither team went on to gain all 3 points. A well deserved, and hard earnt 1-1 draw in the proverbial game of 2 halves.
It's up to Exeter again next week for the penultimate game of the season.
