Another great win for the Men’s 1XI over bottom of the league Bodmin Dragons. Torbay made a fast start and created several good chances and found an early goal after Chris Walker pounced on a loose pass in midfield, ran through the Bodmin defence like they weren’t there and slotted home past the keeper. Torbay probably should have doubled their lead with several players having their efforts well saved by the keeper to keep Bodmin in the game. Torbay were nearly caught out defensively but the trio at the back and Chewy in goal showed their class and made some good tackles and saves to keep the hosts ahead at the break.
After half-time Torbay struggled to get into the half with Bodmin creating a few good chances early on but these were again well dealt with by the back line. Torbay conceded several cards in the second half but saw the time with fewer players out without much trouble. The second goal from Chris Walker mirrored the first as he broke through the Bodmin defense and flicked the ball in off the post. The goal made the game more comfortable for Torbay and although Bodmin pulled one back after a defensive error and had a few short corners in the last few seconds, the hosts never really looked like conceding another and saw out another deserved win.
