An excellent performance from the 1XI this week with a deserved  4-3 victory over Devonport Services 1XI. Torbay started on the front foot and dominated possession early on and took the lead through Jamie Walsh flicking into the roof of the net on a short corner.

Soon after, Torbay got their second with an excellent bit of skill from Walsh again as he slipped the ball past the keeper at the near post. Devonport soon pulled one back through a short corner with their first real effort at goal in the game, but Torbay hit back quickly as they created several excellent chances: Josh Perry’s dragflick missed the top corner by centimeters!

After the break Devonport forced their way back into the game as Torbay switched off at the back to allow an equaliser. The game was fairly even in terms of chances for a few minutes, but Torbay retook the lead when Ben Till flicked past the keeper after a great crash ball into the D. Minutes later Torbay went 4-2 up as Olly Payne deflected another crash ball home.

Torbay had more chances to extend their lead with Max Burrow’s effort at the back post well saved and Jamie Walsh clearing the crossbar as he looked for his hattrick. Another defensive mix-up saw Devonport pull one back again and the last few minutes saw some great defending and Chewy saving with his face to ensure the game finished 4-3.
